This week I have started my editing process. I used premiere pro to assemble and edit my videos. Before I started editing my final piece I made sure I practiced on some experimental videos I created in workshops. I found practicing on other videos useful to my development on premiere pro as I was more able to achieve the look I wanted on my final piece. After reviewing the footage I took from all of my shoots, I released that the colours in the videos were really varied, this was done to the changing weather conditions on the different days I shot the videos. Because of the drastic difference in colour fro every single frame, I made the decision to make the video black and white.
By putting my video in black and white I was more able to control the consistent colour gradient in each of the videos. The black and white effect gave my video a vintage feel that I really liked. I was pleased with my desion to put the video in black and white as o really liked the 60’s vibe the video gave. After having a tutorial with Jason I decide my video needed some transitions as the sharp cuts worked for some parts of the video but not so much on others. I made the choice to use effects such as; dip to black and film fade to merge two clips together. By adding some transitions the video now looks a lot smoother. My initial idea was to base the video around mental health, in particular feeling isolated living in a town or city. After reviewing this idea I decided to alter my idea. I was struggling to get the message of isolation across without being too obvious or too stubble. I considered my idea and changed it to mirroring moving portraiture. The shots that I got for each of the model were similar due to the shot plan so the concept of mirroring went well with the footage I gained. Overall my editing experience as been a good one, I feel confident that I can use premiere pro to a good ability.
